Your Story - Workshop for Wellbeing

'I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.' Joan Didion

I will be facilitating a workshop in the Writing for Wellbeing series, (a partnership between Createplace and the Queensland Writers Centre) on Sunday, 8 October (10am to 1pm) at the State Library of Queensland called, 'Your Story: Essential tools for beginner memoir writers'.

Whether you aim to commercially publish your story or simply create a written legacy for your family, writing a memoir can be a rewarding and potentially cathartic experience.

When I began writing a memoir about my adoption in 1971, it was with all three of these...publishing, legacy and catharsis in mind. It was a struggle in the beginning to find meaning on the page. This led me to PhD research in the creative arts to find my voice and a story that spoke to myself and others.

This practical workshop will provide useful tools that I used myself, to explore your story, give it depth and bring it to the page.
